Rallying the Troops
Yep, I am rallying the troops...I am asking that my family, friends, blog buddies, etc. PLEASE pray for a man in my life who has NEVER not been there. A man who defines the saying "Actions speak louder then words", and a man who has always held part of my heart that no one else could...my Popa Ozzie. If you are family, a close friend or even someone who has played sports with myself, my brother, my sisters ,or even my cousins...you know who Popa Oz is. Oliver Ray Reynolds...Ozzie...Oz...Dad...Popa...Pop...Husband. All of those are just names I have heard him called before. I don't have enough time or tissues tonight to tell you exactly what this man means to me, and to be honest I don't know that I can even put it into words, but just know that he needs prayers...my granny needs prayers....my dad, his brother, and sister need prayers...my whole family needs prayers. We discovered on monday that Popa has the horrible, awful "C" word. CANCER. Colon Cancer to be exact. He has had a rough year and has not been feeling well. His blood counts came up extremely low a few weeks back and he continued to lose blood and they could not figure out why. His appetite has dramatically decreased and he has lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. His doctor scheduled a colonscopy for this past monday to just "check" on things. A tumor was discovered in his colon and found to be cancerous. *heavy heart....fear starts to creep in...* Pray for my precious grandfather please....he is well known around middle tennessee as an amazing athlete and an avid sports watcher...Folks, I played 3 sports growing up..from the time I was 6 until I graduated high school I only remember my grandfather missing ONE sporting event of mine. ONE....seriously?! Isn't that amazing?! Get this..the only reason that he missed that ONE basketball game my senior year is because he himself was being inducted into a Sports Hall of Fame here in TN.(Oh, and he also was upset he was missing my game and even wanted to ask if the banquet for his induction could be moved to another night...lol) This is a man who traveled all the way to Aiken, South Carolina to watch my 11-12 yr old softball team play in the World Series and watch my dad coach. I am not the only one he traveled to watch...if his trucks (red ford rangers :-) ) they would tell stories of thousands upon thousands of miles driven to support those he loved...even if it was only for a 9 inning baseball game..he was there. He is not only supportive, but he would give anyone the shirt off his back. Yeah, my grandfather is amazing. He is kind, he is humble, he is giving, hard-working,loving, funny, handsome, smart, very athletic, wise, and he is my Popa. PLEASE, PLEASE be in prayer for him as he and our family face the upcoming weeks ahead and what they hold. He and my Granny are meeting with his surgeon tommorrow to find out exactly when his surgery will be to remove the tumor. Pray for the surgeon...the surgical team. The doctor he has been seeing is confident that the cancer is hopefully contained and just in the colon. They will know for positive once they get inside, but the CT scan did not show any spots on any other major organs..PTL!!!!! Pray for my Popa's spirits...this is a man who used to play 18 holes of golf 2-3 times a week and now he is tired and even though he would never admit it I am pretty sure he hurts. I only hope he knows what he means to us, and how much he is loved by so many. I have girls that I played basketball, or soccer, or softball with that still see me to this day and ask me about "Popa Oz". People he is the cream of the crop, and I just ask that you Pray! Prayer works and I know from experience that only our HEALER can take care of this, but HE can! Thank you, friends :-)

UPDATE: Popa's surgery has been scheduled for Friday @ 1 pm. Please PRAY at this time...Pray hard!
I am SO sorry that you are having to deal with this. Not sure if you remember, but this is how my grandfather (Emory) died. It was so quick, and so hard, but he is in a better place now either way. I hope for your Pop that things go smoothly with his surgery and he is completely healed!!! :) God is good!
